Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Tanks

What is it?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is 32.5% solution of high-purity urea in de-mineralized water that is used with the Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR) to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) from the exhaust systems of diesel vehicles in the USA. Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a clear non-hazardous liquid.

DEF Storage

Polyethylene plastic tanks are the perfect choice when you need DEF tanks for bulk storage or for dispensing at a customer’s site. High Density Polyethylene is rated as an excellent storage material for DEF and urea. You may need an opaque tank to block the UV rays from the sun if this is for long term outdoor storage. You can check with your DEF provider for specific applications. Check our selection of tanks to see which size and shape meets your needs. You can select from virtually any production tank on our site with the exception of Water Tanks. Most customers are choosing vertical, horizontal, elevated, or custom molded tanks for DEF applications. No matter what size or shape tank is required we can build it. If no production tank fits your needs, we can design and mold any tank configuration to accommodate special needs.

DEF Systems

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is a very pure product. Any contamination will affect the quality of DEF. To prevent contamination, it is imperative that foreign materials do not come in contact with the Diesel Exhaust Fluid solution. Use dedicated DEF tanks and dispensing equipment.
